GPS Lower North Coast Debating Champions for 2011

Last Thursday 17th November the Gloucester Public School Debating Team travelled to Bulahdelah Central School to compete in the Lower North Coast Debating Grand Final.  The debate was against Tea Gardens Public School.  The topic for the debate was the "Girls have it better than boys" with the Gloucester team being the negative.  This was an unseen topic with both teams having one hour preparation time without adult assistance before commencing the debate.  The team was strong and confident in their points.  The spoke about male and female stereotypes, the Glass Ceiling, role models and discrimination.  The Gloucester Public School Debating Team emerged victorious!  Congratulations to Laura Dunlop, first speaker; Ruby Pippen, second speaker; Jeremy Bonisch, third speaker; and Jacob Bird, Team Advisor.  The team have been ably coached and supported by Caroline Moore and Eve Green.

This follows a fine tradition of debating success for Gloucester Public School having been the Lower North Coast Debating Champions in 2007 and 2008 and now once again in 2011.
